Laamu Six Sense Programme to L.Dhanbidhoo School



The staff members of Laamu Six Sense resort came to L.Dhanbidhoo school and conducted a programme for the students of grade 4 to 10. It was arranged by Laamu Dhanbidhoo school management. It was a three hours workshop. The students were happily participated in all activities and completed the day with a wonderful experience. The programme was handled by Europeans so the students were really enjoyed the sessions. They gave information about the reef life and the different ways to protect it. They gave more importance to protect turtles and groupers. They gave light to marine life and sea bourn organisms. A student said it was very useful and they understood more about the food style of different fishes.Finally the programme came to end at 6 pm. They drew the pictures of reef and the endangered species on the school wall with the help of students. The principal thanked Laamu Dhanbidhoo Council for their effort for arranging such programme in a successful way.

Basmala Boat Struck in Reef

Basmala is a passenger cum goods boat. It is the boat of L.Dhanbidhoo island. It goes to the capital Male’ regularly to bring all the things which are needed for the people as well as the shops of Kalaidhoo, Dhanbidhoo, Gan and Fonadhoo. So many people are leading their life happily due to the good service of this boat.On 8th June 2017 while it was coming from Male’ to Dhanbidhoo it met an accident. It arrived to Kalaidhoo island at 3 pm and unloaded the things. After it started moving to Dhanbidhoo. It was a low tide day and the water level of the routine sea route was so low. Due to this, the boat struck with some corals and the bottom got damaged. The sea water rushed inside the boat little by little. There were 6 passengers too. The boat captain immediately called Kalaidhoo people and Dhanbidhoo people. They reached that spot with small boats and saved the people those who travelled in it. Police too came and helped to carry the things which are in the boat. It was a huge loss for the shop owners and the boat. After twice a week of hard work the boat was taken to Dhanbidhoo jetty. It was expected that it would start its journey again after a year.
